Before we answer that question, you should know that there are 2 ways to order train ticket in Indonesia.
First, go to ticket counter directly. But if you prefer to choose economic class (especially for your inter province trip), we recommend you to book in advance. Please avoid to make a vacation in Java island during Ied holiday, because mostly people from Jakarta and West Java province would be gather in Central and East Java province. On these provinces would be more crowded. If you don't mind with crowded, you should order train ticket 1 month prior by online through KAI access application (the second way).
Before you order, you need to understand what requirements must be met :
1. Foreign citizens (a.k.a WNA) must use the identity number listed in passport.
2. Ticket purchases will be rejected if the ID format does not macth the identity number in passport.

2. Create an account
3. Select departure destination. For example, in Bandung city we have 2 train station. Kiaracondong station for mostly economic class train. Whilst Bandung station for excecutive class. Simply put, you can search from goole map the closest train station from your accomodation.
4. Select arrival destination
5. Set a departure date and enter the number of passerngers
6. Choose the train you want to use and availability
7. Fill in the passenger data carefully
8. Free to select the seat. For economic class, it is better to choose 2 seats row
9. Click pay now, after double checking to make sure the information you entered is correct
10. Select available payment method and complete the payment process
11. You will receive a booking code via email
12. Exchange this code for original ticket at your departure station
